Bai Zhi vigilantly stared at Gu Tingchen: "But I... I don't know you."

Gu Tingchen patiently explained, "Don't be afraid, I'm a friend of your parents."

Bai Zhi stared at Gu Tingchen, who was quite handsome, though appeared somewhat threatening. However, he probably wasn't a bad guy.

"Can I...trust you?" Bai Zhi fearfully looked at Gu Tingchen, asking in a whisper.

Gu Tingchen replied in a deep voice, "Of course."

As his words fell, he stretched out his arm and pulled her into his embrace. Bai Zhi was startled. Seeing her blood smeared on Gu Tingchen's fine suit, she felt embarrassed and dared not to move recklessly, afraid to stain his clothes further.

Upon lifting her, an unconscious frown formed on Gu Tingchen's face.

What on earth did this girl eat growing up? How could she be this light in her teens?

Standing next to the car, Gu Yan seemed surprised that the usually obsessively clean Gu Tingchen had embraced the bloodstained girl. This was a treatment no one had ever received in all these years.

As Gu Tingchen slowly approached, Gu Yan quickly opened the car door so that Gu Tingchen could put her in.

The moment the car door closed, Gu Yan heard Gu Tingchen's deep voice.

"Gu Yan, let's go home."

"Mr. Gu, the items have arrived." Gu Yan carrying a medical box came in.

Gu Tingchen spoke in a deep voice, "Put it here."

Gu Yan was a bit puzzled while putting down the medical box – was their Young Master Gu preparing to dress this girl's wound on his own?

"Mr. Gu, shall I?"

Gu Tingchen directly responded, "No need, you may leave."

Hearing this, it seemed that Young Master Gu was really preparing to take action himself. Gu Yan couldn't help but look at the girl who was covered in dirt and blood. It was truly remarkable for her to make Young Master Gu do this.

Upon being asked this, Bai Zhi violently trembled. Her fear was obvious even without words.

Gu Tingchen paused for a moment. He stared at the frightened Bai Zhi and slightly lifted the corners of his mouth, "I won't hurt you."

Bai Zhi immediately nodded. She knew that this uncle wouldn't hurt her, but she was still very scared.

Her large fluttering eyes blinked. Her eyelashes moved up and down due to the blinking, reminiscent of a graceful butterfly.

"Uncle, are you really a friend of my mom and dad?" Bai Zhi weakly asked.

Gu Tingchen responded affirmatively and didn't dwell any further on this question. He quietly said, "Go take a shower first, and then I will help you dress your wounds." She was filthy, and it wouldn't be appropriate to continue the conversation in this state. Gu Tingchen planned to wait until she was cleaned up before discussing further matters.

Bai Zhi unconsciously flinched, aware of her dirty condition that made her look like a beggar.

Gu Tingchen looked at her for a second, stood up, and walked into the bathroom. Soon, the sound of running water could be heard. After about ten minutes, Gu Tingchen stepped out.

He looked at Bai Zhi, lowered his voice slightly, "I've prepared the bath. Go take a soak."
