After dropping the bomb, Gu Tianyi didn’t say anything else.
He was looking at Qiao Wei’s eyes quietly, like they were old friend for years. But in fact this was their first met.
Qiao Wei looked up. She stunned for a second and said, “Well, I thought the first thing in a blind date is self-intro? My name’s Qiao Wei.”
“Gu Tianyi,” the man replied.
After exchanging names, both people were left in an awkward silence. Gu Tianyi looked at her and praised from the bottom of his heart, “Miss Qiao, you look very beautiful today. Why did you choose to go on a blind date?”
Qiao Wei curled up her lips. “I don’t have a good reputation here in Central City. Anyone who knows who I am won’t choose to go out with me.”
“Oh?” Gu Tianyi seemed to be interested, but he didn’t probe further.
“I’m turning 30 this year and I’ve just started a company in Central City. What about you, Miss Qiao?”
Qiao Wei hesitated for a moment and said, “I’m 24 and working in a company.”
“That’s great,” Gu Tianyi remarked.
Great? Qiao Wei thought she had misheard him and looked at him in confusion.
“I’m six years older than you,” Gu Tianyi pointed out. “If you don’t mind, we can arrange a time to obtain a certificate.”
Qiao Wei’s eyes lit up. Her mother’s will had only given her three months to get married and now there were only three days left. She was at her wit’s end, thus she promised her close friend to go on a blind date.
Gu Tianyi sensed her hesitation and added, “I came here for marriage. Are you not willing to get married, Miss Qiao?”
“No, not that... But I do have one condition,” Qiao Wei admitted.
“Go ahead.” Gu Tianyi’s face didn’t change much at all, as if everything was within his expectations.
Qiao Wei took out a document from her bag and said, “This is my prenuptial agreement. The most important point of the agreement is that our assets mustn’t be jointly-owned after the marriage.”
“If you don’t agree...”
“Do you have a pen?” Gu Tianyi interrupted her.
Qiao Wei was stunned for a moment and immediately took out a pen from her bag.
Gu Tianyi took it and signed his name without looking at the agreement. Qiao Wei was astonished for a moment after she looked at the beautiful flourish that was his signature.
“You didn’t even look at it...” Qiao Wei said.
“You said you don’t want any joint ownership in your assets,” Gu Tianyi said. “What a coincidence! I agree with you on that!”
“But...” Qiao Wei trailed off.
Gu Tianyi signed a copy of the document too. “One for each person. Are there any problems?”
Qiao Wei shook her head subconsciously and said, “Not at all.”
“Very good,” Gu Tianyi said. “Miss Qiao, do you have your household register booklet?”
“I do,” Qiao Wei replied.
“The we’re back to my first question. Are you free this afternoon? Let’s head over to the civil affairs bureau to get our marriage certificate. I’ve a meeting in the afternoon, so I don’t have much time.”
“Right... now?” Qiao Wei was somewhat reluctant. She wanted to obtain a marriage certificate as soon as possible, but she was now headed for the civil affairs bureau in just five minutes. She didn’t expect to get married so quickly.
“Is there a problem?” Gu Tianyi wondered.
Qiao Wei lifted her hair by her ear and suddenly smiled. She parted her lips slightly and said, “No.”
